December 2008 - Our Hero Baylee

To all of our friends and family, we would like to give you a very short version of what we have been going through for the last two weeks.

We really appreciate all of your love and support. You all don't realize how your prayers have changed our lives and how God has blessed Baylee. We are going to release this statement to let everyone know a little more about what has happened. We are deeply touched by all of you.

On Saturday December 20, 2008, Baylee Littrell was released from Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta.

Before being admitted Baylee had been treated for or thought to have had; strep throat, hand, foot, mouth disease and erythema multiforme. After receiving a biopsy, blood tests, an EKG and 2 echocardiograms, Baylee was finally diagnosed with A-Typical Kawasaki Disease. We would like to stress A-Typical because Baylee did not have text book symptoms of any of the viruses they thought he had.

Kawasaki Disease causes inflammation in the coronary arteries as well as the walls of the small and medium sized arteries throughout the body. Unfortunately Baylee’s coronary arteries were effected. He received an IVIG, which is a treatment to bring down the inflammation in his coronary arteries. Baylee will be closely monitor ed for the next 6-8 weeks by a Pediatric Cardiologist to see if the treatment was effective.

We want to thank every one who prayed for us as well as all of the emails and phone calls. Your love and support means so much to our family. The Hospital Staff were absolutely amazing. They made an extremely difficult time in our lives as comfortable as possible.

We are humbled by the love and compassion that people have for our son all over the world, thank you.

For those of you who do not know or have not heard, Baylee Littrell has been in the hospital for the past few days. He will be starting a treatment this afternoon and the Littrell family asks that all Backstreet Boys fans please remember him in prayer during this trying time. Every little prayer helps and every single prayer counts! Brian and Leighanne would also like to wish you all Happy Holidays and to thank for your thoughts and prayers...

November 2006 - The Heart Post

Yes, it's true, the HHC is getting a makeover! The headquarters moved from Kentucky to Georgia so that we can be more active in the club. We've teamed up with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to enable our surgical assistance fund to reach more families all over the World, and we are currently revamping our website as well as ordering new merchandise. Not to mention the newsletter, The Heart Post!

But, none of this would have been possible if it weren't for your donations, love & support.

Because of people like you, we are able to educate children and their families about their health, eating habits and the importance of exercise. Your donations and merchandise purchases also enabled us to create the surgical assistance fund. This program allows us to help families financially where insurance companies don't.

We thank you for your continued support. We have so many wonderful things in store for the upcoming year, and would love to hear your feedback!

October 2006 - Sad News

Our dog Litty was killed by wild coyotes and Tyk was hurt pretty badly. He had surgery last night and is still in ICU. Litty just had emergency surgery 11 days ago and she was on a fast road to recovery. We are extremely upset, but wanted you all to know and to ask everyone to keep us in their prayers. We are slowly getting back into the swing of things. We wanted you all to know that we appreciate your prayers and support! We have received several cards and we want to say thank you to everyone. I am leaving you with a picture of Litty, she was our sweet baby girl. Tyk is doing well and will go to the vet tomorrow to get his staples out. He now lays in Litty's favorite spot on our rug. Nothing is more rewarding than being a Mom, if you do it right. Being a Mother is absolutely the thoughest job I ever had, but when Baylee says: Mommy you are so pretty, I love you" well, he takes my breath away and nothing else can make you feel that way. Hi, It's me, Leighanne . I wanted to give you the latest update on the family and myself. Wow, parenting is amazing, and thank the Heavenly Father, going great. Our first two babies (Tyk and Litty) are doing exceptionally well. They are wonderful dogs, just didn't know if having Baylee, we would see the dogs compete against him for our attention. Tyk, especially each time Baylee cries he is running to make sure he is okay. We have to fight to keep Tyk out of the bassinet. He just wants to cuddle with his new little brother. Trying to teach him that it is a NO NO! At first Litty was a little intimidated by Baylee, but has since warmed up to him being around. Our first few night's having Baylee home was an amazing adjusting period in our life. Things are normally so hectic and so grueling that normally when we go to sleep we are out until we are forced to wake up. No more of that. Baylee is a wonderful baby, has us awake about every three to four hours. Brian is wonderful, he is up about every hour on the hour, just to check on him. Thanksgiving was quite interesting. We had so many family members and friends at the house. Luckily, the Wallace, and Littrell families came to us. My mother, and Jackie, my mother-in-law fixed a wonderful meal. My sister Suzanne stayed until yesterday with us. I don't know what to call this past Thanksgiving holiday, either the celebration of Baylee, or was it actually Thankgiving. This year has flown by. It's hard to believe that our son is already here. I want to personally thank everyone for the prayers, and the congratulation's we have received. They are much appreciated. May God be the way to all great things. I wish you and everyone else, a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Have a wonderful and safe Holiday Season. God Bless, Leighanne
